I addressed the recently published details on the Breonna Taylor case in about a five-minute talk with a coworker. Just talk about the facts. Another African-American colleague overheard the debate and said that she was really angry and that it caused a hostile work environment. Keep in mind that our office has been discussing political topics and news stories for over a year and a half, with no complaints. Also, during this conversation or any other discussion, no racist or racial remarks were ever said, and there is no policy in our handbook stating that news or political issues should not be discussed. Note: I am an employee of the Courthouse of Our Counties.
Will I be fired for complaining about a news subject that a colleague overheard and said caused a hostile work environment?
