If I already have a valid passport, do I need a travel document?

Hello, 

My wife and I have just been issued a green card (Her: AS6, Me: AS7)

We are hoping to fly overseas but need some clarification. Do I need a travel document or can I use my French passport and green card to travel with me?

My wife has no passport and is going to apply for a travel document. I’d like to know if I need one of my own.
