Got a work offer, but on my EAD and Social Security card, do I have a name typo?
2 weeks ago, I got my EAD card and SS card in the mail. They both have the correct last name, but at the end of it, my first name seems to have additional letters. I was just given a work offer. The foreign student advisor from my college told me to hang onto the EAD card until the first day of work (so I can show it to the employer). I know I have to give them a card by mail to USCIS to give me the right one, but it can take 6-8 weeks. And only once USCIS corrects my EAD info can I correct my SS passport. Advice, please. Should I hang on to the wrong card and, if asked, clearly justify it to the employer? I know that my SSN will forever stay the same, so it is a non-issue to provide my employer with the figure.
