Tommy is the owner of Smith Law, PLLC. He is a member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys, ElderCounsel, Lawyers with a Purpose, and the National Care Planning Council. These are professional associations of attorneys who are dedicated to improving the quality of legal services for seniors and people with special needs in the areas of public benefits, wills and trusts, probate and estate planning, and health and long-term care planning.
Tommy is licensed to practice before all Florida state courts, the U.S. District Court for Northern Florida, and the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims in Washington, DC. His undergraduate degree is from North Carolina State University. He has an MBA from the University of West Florida, and he graduated magna cum laude from Liberty University School of Law in Virginia.
Prior to attending law school, Tommy was the business administrator for a local church after a career or more than thirty years in industry in various management and technical capacities. As a certified quality engineer and manager, he received a corporate Circle of Excellence Award for leading ISO 9001 certification efforts. He was a supervisor, Technical Services Manager, Customer Service and Sales Manager, and an all-round flunkey. Tommy and his wife, Debbie, are members of Hillcrest Baptist Church, and they have one son, Zack, who is an attorney working for the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C.
