often confusing maze of financial and legal decisions to create plans that ensure the well-being of their families and the accomplishment of cherished family goals. Whether you are married or single, with a traditional family or blended one, just starting out or looking back on a life well-lived, John will help you to craft a plan that achieves your goals for your loved ones today and for years to come.
John graduated from American University’s Washington College of Law and worked as a law clerk for the Law Firm of Dombroff, Gilmore, Jacques and French. While at Washington College of Law, John was the only student to present an oral argument before the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, a federal appeals court designed for military matters. As a pro bono student attorney, John represented low-income clients in the D.C. Law Students in Court program. After graduation, John founded the Heck Law Firm, where he has represented individuals and families in a variety of matters for over a decade. He has also worked as attorney at a boutique estate planning firm in Fairfax, VA.

He is a frequent blogger, offers advice to his local community, and travels to clients when they cannot. John has chosen to concentrate on the Trusts and Estates area because he is passionate about helping families create happy and secure futures. He is also a published legal scholar and served in the Air Force for over 30 years, retiring in the rank of Colonel.
